The value of a solo experience cannot be overstated, but often the concerns for safety, the fear of vulnerability in the wilderness, can understandably be an insurmountable barrier. The overwhelm of anxiety gets in the way of dropping into our own internal landscapes, keeping us hypervigilant and oriented outward.

This is why we have created a “Supported Solo,” a space in which you are invited to do your deep dive, immerse yourself in the natural world, continue the work you are doing with other healers or on your own, all amidst with the gentle framework and logistical structure of guides who have decades of experience.

Are you ready for the next step of diving into YOU?

When: Dates for the fall coming soon!

Day 1: Arrive to the trailhead near Asheville, NC by 10am.

Day 3: Hike back out to the trailhead, ready for departure by 3pm.

What’s Included:

  • Three group Zoom calls to prepare for your supported solo. We will cover logistics as well as options for preparing for your time away, all the details from journal prompts to setting up your email auto-reply.

  • Two nights of camping a moderate distance from our trailhead. We will hike in on day one, and stay together as a group for night one, setting up camp, sharing a meal, and then slowing into solo time not too far from one another. Activities will help us to titrate the discomfort of stepping further away from one another while knowing we have the group to return to.

  • The second day and night will involve options to set up a solo site further away from our “basecamp.” We will cover safety protocols, and help you listen to your inner pull towards either more or less space. The structure will give options, some participants may decide to begin their solo early, others may enjoy dipping in and out of solo time for the day and camping close to base-camp. We will set these intentions ahead of time and work in the moment to listen to your needs

  • All camping gear and group food provided. We will provide recommendations of easy food to pack for your solo night.

  • Both a wilderness guide and Aspen Roots facilitator will be present at basecamp throughout the experience.

  • On the third day everyone will return to basecamp in the morning and have time to share and set intentions for integration.

  • A final Zoom call two weeks after the Supported Solo will prompt further reflection and ideas for continuing integration.
